Corpus Christi
Camuñas

In these fragments of darkness that we want to wrest from time there dwells the vague glint of a reality unreachable for the exiguous power of the senses: the eternal confrontation between light and dark, nature and civilisation, good and evil. That unceasing battle endows creation with movements and it can only be observed in form of complex rituals like this living one.
The vast collection of symbols that is going to be shown to your eyes and intelligence constitutes the firm mouth of a well. By looking into it, we will make out the depths of our being, as if it were a deep gleam fighting to escape out of the well to return to the sun from which it was irradiated. Adhered to the mirror of centuries, these masks exhale a dense murmur of chaos and balance, body and spirit.
It is a chaos that suggests virtues and sins, shifts between states of consciousness on an endless journey towards the Divine Light.
If you look carefully, you will not fail to recognise yourselves in the features of these masks.
